Journal 10/8

John Lennon would've been 70 on Saturday and even though he is gone his legacy lives on. But on October 6, the FBI was still on Lennon's case, they subpoenaed a fingerprint card with his full name on it to look into for further investigation. This is really weird because the FBI case was originally just looking into Lennon's antiwar activism, he was never formally charged with anything but when this fingerprint card came up for a minimum bid of $100,000, the FBI took notice.
Many events are taking place around the world celebrating his birthday. In Liverpool,UK, Lennon's birthplace, there will be a peace monument unveiled by Julien and Cynthia, his son and first wife. In addition to that there will be a poetry contest and many other events. In Los Angeles the opening of Nowhere Boy and independent film about Lennon's childhood and his relationship with his mother and aunt who raised him. New York City will be showing documentaries in Central Park, the Beacon Theatre will have a tribute to Lennon and there will be a Fab Four walking tour.
Lennon's late wife Yoko Ono will be relighting the peace tower inReykjavik, Iceland this weekend and is hoping to get 1 million wishes for peace to coincide with the light of the tower. The relighting of the tower will be the ending of a week worth of Lennon celebration.
Other cities will be paying tribute to Lennon as well. I think its really great that such an amazing person is still being remembered and honored even 30 years after his death. I can only imagine how Lennon would feel if he got to see what an impact he has made on so many people. As a huge Beatles fan i will be celebrating Lennon's birthday this weekend!
There has been coverage all over the world about Lennon and his birthday and the many accomplishments that he has achieved. His work will be remembered and honored for the rest of time, his music immortalized, and his legacy will continue to expand and inspire.

  1. Anna, this doesn't really fulfill the assignment. You would have needed to be looking at particular stories and analyizing how Lennon's birthday was covered. instead, you're just telling me about the birthday. I'm a tad confused. Are you confused about what this is supposed to be? If you are, def come see me.
